Split PDF: what to know before you start
Four ways to split, and when each fits
Every N pages cuts the document into equal chunks - the quickest option for breaking a long report into readable parts.
Custom ranges gives exact control: type 1-5; 6-12; 13-24 and each range becomes its own file. Ranges may overlap if you need the same page in two outputs.
Extract selected pages produces a single new PDF containing only what you picked.
Individual pages turns an N-page document into N single-page files, which is what most e-filing and document management systems want.
Ranges use semicolons, not commas
Separate each range with a semicolon: 1-5; 6-10; 11-24. A comma inside a chunk is read as "these pages in one file", so 1-2, 4-5 produces a single PDF containing pages 1, 2, 4 and 5 rather than two separate files.
That distinction is deliberate and useful once you know it: semicolons split files, commas group pages within a file.
What you get back
A single resulting file downloads directly. Multiple files arrive as a ZIP, each named after the source document and the pages it contains, so they stay identifiable after extraction.
The original is never modified. Splitting reads your upload and writes new documents from it.

Frequently asked questions
What does "every N pages" do?
It cuts the document into equal chunks. A 24-page PDF split every 5 pages gives 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 and 21-24.
How do custom ranges work?
Type the ranges separated by semicolons, like 1-5; 6-10. Each range becomes a separate PDF, and ranges may overlap.
