How do I convert a PDF to a text file?
Upload the PDF and press Extract Text. You get a .txt file with all the text from every page. Scanned pages are read with OCR automatically, so they do not come back empty.
Does it keep the layout?
No. A .txt file is plain text, so tables, columns and images are lost, and columns are read top to bottom. If you need the layout, keep the PDF and use OCR PDF to make it searchable instead.
Why is some of the text wrong?
On scanned pages the text comes from OCR, which can misread faint, tiny or handwritten text. Pages exported from Word or similar are copied exactly. Choosing the right language improves OCR accuracy a lot.
Is there a page limit?
Pages with real text have no practical limit. Up to 50 scanned pages are read with OCR per run; split larger scans with Split PDF first.
