How to Save One Page of a PDF

A form asks for "the first page of your marksheet", or you want to send one page of a contract without the rest. You do not need special software for this. Your browser, a Mac and an iPhone can all save a single page as a new PDF, and the original file stays as it was.

Extract PDF Pages

On Windows: use Chrome or Edge

This is the "print to PDF" trick, and it works for any PDF your browser can open.

  1. 1Open the PDF in Chrome or Edge. Dragging the file onto an open browser window works.
  2. 2Press Ctrl+P to open the print dialog.
  3. 3Set the printer (Destination) to "Save as PDF".
  4. 4Under Pages, choose Custom and type the page number, for example 7. For several pages type 3,7,10-12.
  5. 5Click Save and pick where the new file goes.

Printing to PDF can drop links and form fields from the saved page. If you need those, use the online method below, which copies the page as it is.

On a Mac: use Preview

Preview has a quicker way than printing.

  1. 1Open the PDF in Preview and choose View > Thumbnails.
  2. 2Drag the thumbnail of the page you want onto the desktop. Preview creates a new PDF with just that page.
  3. 3To save several pages, Cmd-click their thumbnails first, then drag them out together.

On an iPhone or iPad

There is no "extract page" button, but the print screen does the job.

  1. 1Open the PDF in the Files app, tap the Share icon and choose Print.
  2. 2Tap Range and select only the page you want.
  3. 3Pinch outward on the page preview. It opens as a new PDF.
  4. 4Tap Share again and choose Save to Files.

Online, on any device

Upload the PDF to Extract PDF Pages, tick the page on the thumbnails (or type its number) and press Extract Pages. The new PDF keeps the page exactly as it was, links and all. This is also the easiest way when you need scattered pages from a long document, because you can see them all at once.

If you want the opposite, everything except a few pages, use Delete PDF Pages instead and tick the pages to drop.

Frequently asked questions

Does saving one page change the original PDF?

No. Every method here creates a new file. The original keeps all its pages.

Can I save one page of a password-protected PDF?

Only if you know the password. Open it with the password first, or remove the password with Unlock PDF, then save the page.

How do I save each page as a separate PDF?

Use Split PDF and choose "Split into individual pages". You get one PDF per page, downloaded together as a ZIP.
