Photo to PDF: what to know before you start
Made for phones
On a phone or tablet, Take Photo opens the camera directly and adds the picture to the list. You can photograph a multi-page document one page at a time without leaving the browser or saving anything to your gallery first.
Photos from the gallery work the same way, including iPhone HEIC files, which are converted automatically.
Defaults tuned for photographs
Auto orientation gives each page the shape suiting its own photo, so portrait and landscape shots both sit correctly. A small margin keeps a tidy border rather than running the image to the paper edge.
If you are photographing paper documents rather than scenes, the scan tool produces a better result - it crops the background, lifts contrast and can convert to clean black and white.
Quality on a phone
Modern phone photos are large - a 12 megapixel image is far more detail than any document PDF needs. Images are scaled down slightly so the file stays manageable, which is usually invisible. If the PDF still needs to be smaller for an upload form, compress it afterwards rather than lowering quality twice.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take a photo directly?
Yes. On a phone or tablet the Take Photo button opens the camera, and the picture is added to the list straight away.
Will my photos lose quality?
Photos are added at high quality. Very large photos are scaled down slightly so the PDF stays a sensible size - lower the Quality setting if you want a smaller file.
Is the photo order the same as the page order?
Yes, the list order is exactly the page order, and you can drag any row to change it.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool on WorkSathi is free to use with no sign up, no watermark on your result and no daily limit.
What happens to my files?
Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed, and then deleted automatically within one hour. We never open, share or sell your documents.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The tools work in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS - there is nothing to install.
