Resize Image in KB: what to know before you start
KB, pixels and centimetres are different things
KB is the file size. Pixels (200 x 230) are the picture dimensions. Centimetres (3.5 x 4.5 cm) are the printed size, which depends on the DPI. A form can ask for any of these, or all three. This page handles KB; if your form also gives pixels, type them in Width and Height, or use Resize Image in Pixels.
At a CSC or cyber cafe
Keep this page open in one tab and the portal in another. Most rejections come from a photo that is a few KB too big or too small - fixing it here takes seconds and there is no app to install on the counter computer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to 50 KB?
Type 50 in Maximum size, add the photo and press Create image. You get the clearest JPG that is 50 KB or less. If the form also says "minimum 20 KB", put 20 in Minimum size too.
Why does the form reject my photo even though it is under the limit?
Many forms have a minimum as well as a maximum - a 9 KB photo is rejected by a 10-50 KB form. Set the minimum here and the file is never smaller than that.
Will the photo look blurred?
Not at sensible limits. The quality is chosen as high as the limit allows, and the photo is only made smaller in pixels when that gives a clearer result than heavy compression.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so the photo never leaves your phone or computer. That also makes it instant.
Is this tool free?
Yes. Every tool on WorkSathi is free to use with no sign up, no watermark on your result and no daily limit.
What happens to my files?
Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed, and then deleted automatically within one hour. We never open, share or sell your documents.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The tools work in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS - there is nothing to install.
